The future of Passaic County is affordable. livable. people-first. community-powered. fair. for everyone.

Meet Ali Aljarrah

I am running for County Commissioner because this county didn’t become unaffordable by accident - it was dismantled by policy choices that made it easier to extract wealth from communities than to reinvest in them.

This county was created so working people could live near their jobs, afford their lives, and have real representation - and for decades, that system worked. Our downtowns were accessible, local businesses were viable, and the economy functioned as a connected whole. Then we broke it: rail disappeared, highways replaced Main Streets, small businesses were buried in red tape, and affordability gave way to rising costs and longer commutes.

I’m not running for nostalgia or surface-level fixes - I’m running to rebuild a county economy that works again by reinvesting in local business districts, creating real foot traffic and affordable housing, and supporting jobs with ladders, not gigs. We don't need a miracle - the county can step up to plan and reinvest into our community the way this county was designed to do.

OUR PLATFORM

What we’re fighting for

Affordable Homes, Stronger Communities

Everyone deserves a place to call home. Stable housing is the foundation of family security and community growth. Our focus is to build more housing and expand affordable homeownership options to first-time homeowners and vulnerable communities.

County-Sponsored Grocery Stores

From West Milford to Paterson, too many families live in food deserts where fresh, nutritious food is hard to find and too expensive. County-sponsored grocery stores would bring affordable produce and healthy staples directly into these neighborhoods, prioritizing public health over profit. This is a practical way to improve nutrition while lowering everyday food costs.

Transit That Connects People to Opportunity

Reliable transportation fuels economic growth. By expanding train stops and bus routes, we are expanding our economic potential because it means more jobs are within reach.

Clean Rivers, Healthier Future

Our rivers should be assets, not liabilities. Cleaning the Passaic River will protect public health and unlock tourism potential. Environmental responsibility and economic growth can go hand in hand. The first step Passaic County can do is a feasibility study to understand the underlying issues.

Jobs, Innovation, and Local Business Growth

A strong economy starts locally. We will support Main Street, invest in small businesses, and build a research & development hub in Paterson. Good jobs today create lasting prosperity tomorrow.

A Healthier, More Vibrant Passaic County

Parks, culture, and clean energy shape quality of life. From the Great Falls to Garret Mountain to the Highlands Preserve, we'll invest in recreation, tourism, and sustainability. A thriving community is one where people live, work, and gather with pride.

This campaign is powered by grassroots donors and volunteers - not corporate interests or mega-donors.
