Ali Aljarrah's plan for Passaic County

As your County Commissioner, Ali Aljarrah will fight to:

  • Rents are rising faster than paychecks, and families who've lived in Passaic County for generations are being pushed out. The county doesn't set zoning in every town, but it has real power to help through tenant protections, homelessness prevention, and partnerships with municipalities.

Ali will pass countywide tenant protections so landlords can't push renters out without cause, and work with towns to build affordable housing near train stations and bus lines so families can stay here.

  • Passaic County's roads are falling apart, and too many residents can't get to work, school, or medical appointments without a car.

Ali will fight for the infrastructure investments we've been waiting for, repaving county roads, fixing dangerous intersections, and expanding bus service so workers can get to their jobs without spending a fortune on gas.

  • Our rivers are polluted and our communities flood every time there's a heavy rain.

Ali will get serious about cleaning up the Passaic River and funding real flood protection in the neighborhoods that need it most. He'll also push Trenton to pass the Make Polluters Pay Act, so that the corporations responsible for the climate crisis help cover the cost of fixing what it's breaking. That's money for Passaic County projects without raising taxes on working families.

  • When Washington cuts food assistance and Medicaid, Passaic County families feel it first.

Ali will fight to use the county's reserves to backfill federal cuts to social services, expand local food assistance, and help more families sign up for WIC. He'll also push to pilot a public grocery store in a food-desert neighborhood so every family in the county can access fresh, affordable food.

  • Trump and MAGA Republicans in Washington are coming after immigrants, workers, and anyone who doesn't fall in line. County government has to be ready.

Ali will protect county workers from layoffs and wage cuts, defend immigrant families from ICE raids, and make sure our sheriff's office isn't doing the Trump administration's work for them.
